IAM offers two curriculums and encourages that they be taught consecutively:
1) Basic Bible Training 2) Discipleship Training
The training also includes Old and New Testament Survey, a supplemental course, and encourages outreach evangelism and works of mercy. However, our first and foremost desire is to impart a love for God, intimacy with Him through prayer and worship and the formation of Godly character in the lives of the students
IAM TRAINING IS UNIQUE
IAM is not a traditional Bible School with it own buildings, nor is it a degree porgram in the Western sense of the word. IAM offers an interdenominational local discipleship program that is cost affordable by: taking the school to people in rural/remote areas, using existing church buildings, etc. in the community, training local pastors and lay people as volunteer teachers/staff under the direction of IAM leadership, providing resources which are easily duplicated.
Evangelishm without discipleship is only half of the biblical mandate. The long range goal of IAM is that each country which has utilized this tool will duplicate the training by sending thier own graduates as missionaries and evangelist to their region and /or other countries as God directs.
THE PROPOSED SCHEDULE
Each training is designed to be conducted over a 4 - 6 month time frame. However, it is flexible and specifics are to be determined by the leadership in order to best meet the needs of those involved. The IAM School generally meets two or three morning or evenings sessions per week. Saturdays are often considered classtime, as well.
We believe that the foundation of all ministry is prayer and intimate, personal communion with God. Each class session should begin with prayer and worship, eventually student-led. Special times of prayer/fasting should be interjected throughout the course. We encourage all leaders to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. If there is a special moving during the worship, prayer time, even during a class, allow yielding to His direction.
THE OUTREACHES
Works of mercy field trips should be scheduled one or two times each month. Evangelism outreaches should be scheduled once each week. The students will learn and grow and the Gospel will be proclaimed. Students and teachers will be doers of the Word.
In additions, a mission trip (two weeks) should be offered in the 5th module. This offers a vital opportunity for students to experience a taste of mission life. That is, ministering and living together in an unfamiliar surrounding. This may be in another city or another country. This trip should have an evangelistic thrust (crusades, door-to-door, street, church planting) giving the students an opportunity to put into practice what they have learned. Works of mercy and building projects can be coupled with evangelism effort.
GRADUATION CEREMONY
Homework should be assigned after each session. Written tests are to be given at the end of each module to assess the student's progress. Upon completion of the trainng a formal Graduation Ceremony is held. As requested, diplomas may be issued by the IAM Office.
IAM Staff often include a graduation meal, prior or after the ceremony for the graduates and immediate family. Depending on local awareness, the community is invited to witness the event and celebrate with the graduates.
